Fighting hair thinning with the science of the natural
3 Mar 2022 --- Ultimately, today’s hair care shoppers want products that work; something that does exactly what it says it will. For the US handmade and custom formulation brand More Hair Naturally, the importance of supporting people and providing information to empower them to make informed purchasing decisions is vital.
“We really care about people's health and we feel it's our responsibility to make people better and to make the world a little bit better,” shares CEO Mahryah Shain. Therefore, the brand has focused on introducing a product that, as Shain describes, strives to “get people the results they are looking for and at the same time can maintain their health, vitality and longevity”.
The hair care brand wanted to be in a position where people don't have to consider or ask about a product: “Is this going to jeopardize my health?” Consumers want to have transparency and clarity from the brands they select and products they opt for, without fearing unwanted side effects.
“Also, there are a lot of people who take medications that have the side effect of hair loss,” says Shain. “Because they are dependent on these medications, in some cases to survive, there is a great risk in introducing a new drug into their system and their routine that could have negative implications to, or counteract the medications they are taking that are helping them stay alive.”
A few years ago, More Hair Naturally returned to the science labs to seek out treatments and combinations that had yet to come to a hair thinning market that hadn’t changed much in decades. As a result, it found boundaries being pushed with the use of such things as stem cells, probiotics, peptides and nutrients. Shain says: “This is really cutting edge science; this has never been done before so people are getting an opportunity to explore a technology that hadn't existed before 2016.”
The fullness of ingredients
The brand believes natural ingredients provide unique benefits. “The great thing about using a natural product is you can counteract the side effects of thinning hair of these medications while at the same time not interfering with their effect on your body,” says Shain.
Today, More Hair Naturally interprets the industry as having a lot of consumers who are using popular products and are either not experiencing the results they were hoping for, are experiencing side effects they don’t want or are taking medications that would react badly with the products. So, the brand boasts “an extremely aggressive, all-natural solution to thinning hair that will not have any adverse effects on their body or medications”.
The company says that developing a formulation that would combine its intended ingredients was complex and challenging. In releasing its product, the brand wanted to take all of the ingredients it had researched and understood from laboratory studies and combine them into one offering. However, it was also important to the brand to do so while maintaining the ingredients’ full clinical strength.
“Results are our goal,” Shain notes. In developing its hair care formulas, it did not want to create a product and put only one drop of a certain ingredient in the formulation, for example, or similarly put just enough in the product to state the ingredient was present. It wanted to create genuine efficacy and effectiveness. In order to include all of its desired ingredients, the brand’s CEO states he “gave our lab a big challenge in terms of how we can combine all these ingredients into one product and in a way where there will be no side effects and will work better than any other product on the market”.
“It took us a little while and some trial and error but then we did it, we achieved it and that was really exciting for us,” Shain proudly expresses.
More Hair Naturally believes hair loss has repercussions way beyond the external. “We believe the more confidence and self-esteem you have the greater you'll do out in the world, and the greater you do out in the world the better the world will be,” says Shain. “It is about hair loss but it's also about taking positive actions to make your life better.”
He adds: “We are really looking at a bigger picture because if we have a world full of confident, happy people, the world is just going to be a better place. If we want to help contribute to that, that concept is really at the base of everything we're doing.”
