Education ‘key’ to crack CBD skin care market
30 Nov 2021 --- Launching this November in the UK is Eresos, the latest in a long line of cannabis-infused beauty and personal care brands to enter the burgeoning CBD market. Co-founders Chris Ioannou and Georgio Constantinou took more than a decade to bring their creation to market.
Eresos combines CBD with botanicals, nutraceutical extracts and oils from flowers, nuts and berries in formulations to treat the skin and mind and help improve wellbeing. The Eresos team have years of experience as growers and cultivators of medical cannabis. They use this knowledge to develop skin care and wellness products under the Derma, Energos and Isolex names.
Carl Jat, Eresos Managing Director, maintains that no sector within the beauty and personal care industry is growing as fast as CBD. He says: “CBD is relatively young and used by people for many reasons, not least those looking for a healthier lifestyle. Our role is to bring high quality products to market that inspire people with confidence.”
Achieving success with a CBD claim has been problematic for dozens of indie brands looking to grab a slice of this growth market through skin care products. Unsurprisingly, the bigger beauty brands have been cautious about incorporating CBD into their products and this state of affairs is likely to continue for as long as there are no global standards in regulation and legislation.
However, the appeal of CBD as a wonder ingredient is not in dispute and, these days, CBD can be found in a wide range of products. It is claimed to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-aging properties and is finding its way into such areas as facial skin care, mascaras, lipsticks and lip balms.
But where does this leave the confused consumer, faced with a huge choice of brands and products, all offering differing percentages of CBD extract? Jat believes the answer lies in education, which is a key tenet of the Eresos strategy when bringing its products to market. “It’s important to get across the message that CBD is not a drug and to help consumers familiarize themselves with its benefits.”
Planning for a proliferation of products
Eresos products are manufactured in the UK and assigned their own batch numbers in order to demonstrate the utmost transparency, traceability and integrity. All extracts are concentrated so that only a small amount of CBD and botanicals are needed for maximum benefits.
Under the Eresos Derma range, there are four products formulated to offer natural alternatives to existing remedies for youthful, hydrated, irritated, dry and breakout skin. At present, there is one facial product, the Eresos Derma Hydrating Face Mask. It is described as a CBD isolated infused moisturising and calming mask with aloe vera and chamomile in a kaolin clay base. Other products in the Derma range include Cocoa Hand & Body Cream, Sweet Almond Hand & Body Oil and Mandarin & Clove Hand Wash, which includes clove for its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.
The first product in the Eresos Energos range is an Active Muscle Therapy Balm, aimed at soothing sore, tired and tight muscles. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities of arnica, eucalyptus and CBD isolate provide for a natural yet intensive massage.
The Eresos Isolex range is designed to strike a balance between body and mind. These CBD and botanical infused supplements and oils are aimed at improving sleep, brain function and immune recovery.
CBD Isolate Oral Capsules contain CBD Isolate, while CBD Oil Drops come in three strengths. Eucalyptus Sleep mist is a blend of lavender and chamomile botanicals combined with CBD. The final product in the range is Pulse Point Almond Oil Roller.
In addition, there is a pipeline of facial skin care, sun care and spa products in development for early 2022. The products are currently available online from the brand’s website and a retail launch for the UK and Europe is slated for 2022.
